Cambridge Academy of Martial Arts has been teaching the combat sport of Savate Boxe Française (French Boxing), since the early 1990s. CAMA instructors held to grading sessions in January. The first was for the Savate Tigers, our pre-teen group.
The Savate Tiger programme introduces children to the rules of Savate, and helps to build self confidence, self control, respect for others and understanding of rules.
CAMA Senior Instructor Ollie Batts led the youngsters through the required skills, including punches, kicks, footwork, guard, and defences. For both Tiger 1 and Tiger 2, the children also show their ability in sparring. At Tiger 2, the children also show their skills in refereeing and judging. Ollie and Instructor Morgan Alexander assessed each candidate. We are delighted to congratulate all our junior members who participated in the test, and especially those achieved their goals:
Savate Tiger 1, Level 1 |
Vikram John |
Savate Tiger 2, Level 2 | Savate Tiger 2, Level 3 |
Hasan Miah |
Elise Briatte |
Congratulations and thanks to instructors Morgan & Ollie who prepared them so well.
Later the same week, a grading evening was held for teens and adults. Five members of the Academy participated, all performing well. The participants showed attack and counter-attack skills, combinations, themed sparring and free sparring.
